Since losing 10 games in a row, the Boston Bruins have righted the ship just in time.

Boston won again Saturday night, entering the Olympic break on a four-game winning streak. Mark Recchi scored in the eighth round of the shootout, the Bruins outlasting the Florida Panthers on the road 3-2.

Boston moves into seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings with 65 points, two points behind sixth-place Philadelphia and one point ahead of eighth-place Montreal.

David Krejci and Marc Savard kept the Bruins alive in the shootout, scoring when they had to in order to extend the shootout after David Booth and Kamil Kreps had scored for the Panthers.

In regulation, Krejci scored to tie the game at 1-1 at 15:54 of the first. Down 2-1, Recchi knotted the score at 11:44 of the third.

The Bruins return to the ice at home March 2 against Montreal.

The Boston Bruins saw a team Saturday moving in the exact opposite direction they are, and that’s not a good sign.

Boston’s January stumble and offensive struggles continue, the Bruins falling 2-1 at home to Ottawa.

Ottawa has won six games in a row and leads Boston by six points in the Northeast Division. The Bruins have picked a rotten time to hit the skids, having lost six of their past seven games. Boston is averaging just 14 goals in the past seven games, and two goals was one too many against the Senators.

Tim Thomas allowed goals by Daniel Alfredsson and Jason Spezza. Daniel Paille scored for the Bruins, tying the game at 1-1 midway through the second period before Spezza’s tally with 3:21 left in the period put the Senators on top to stay.

Boston gets an immediate chance to rebound on Sunday, traveling to Carolina to face a Hurricanes’ team last in the NHL with 37 points.
